snow

We haven’t had that much snow for many years.

going home

From Florida

fl09_5-7.jpg

How can those be the real clouds? And yes, they are.

fl09_5-8.jpg

Through Georgia

fl09_5-9.jpg

North Georgia and South Carolina were very fogy.

fl09_5-10.jpg

But the good thing is the road was pretty empty.

fl09_5-12.jpg

Totally different picture in Virginia.

fl09_5-14.jpg

fl09_5-15.jpg

Comparing to Florida, our birds at home are much smaller and fly in big flocks :)

florida, day five

Early morning we went to say goodbye to the ocean.

fl09_5.jpg

I collected a couple of shells (funny to see how angular I am :)

fl09_5-3.jpg

Cute birds were happily posing for us.

fl09_5-4.jpg

fl09_5-5.jpg

There is no such thing as too many pictures of a happy moment.

fl09_5-21.jpg

It was a very short but memorable trip.

fl09_5-6.jpg

florida, day four

Day started beautifully.

fl09_4.jpg

Then it changed into grouchy one in the afternoon.

fl09_4-5.jpg

This is how I take self-portraits when the light is good.

fl09_4-2.jpg

fl09_4-3.jpg

Heavy rain in  the evening.

fl09_4-6.jpg

fl09_4-7.jpg

We discovered that resort is not much fun in the evening, so we spent some time in the lobby listening to the live music.

fl09_4-11.jpg

fl09_4-12.jpg

fl09_4-13.jpg

Also we took a few dramatic photos outside, after the rain.

I love my little photo journal. Don’t you?

florida, day three

The day was cloudy and very windy.

fl09_3-7.jpg

We spent most of the day indoor.

fl09_3-9.jpg

fl09_3-4.jpg

During the break we enjoyed a little walk outside.

fl09_3-2.jpg

fl09_3-3.jpg

As soon as presentations were over, we went to the beach.

fl09_3-5.jpg

fl09_3-10.jpg

Oh, glorious sky, and the ocean, and the sand, a perfect color combination.

fl09_3-11.jpg

I couldn’t be happier.

fl09_3-8.jpg

Every day we watched several cruise ships leaving the harbor.

fl09_3-12.jpg

The beach was empty.

fl09_3.jpg

florida, day two

We had almost all day for ourselves before the symposium that we came for.

fl09_2-8.jpg

And the day was perfect for spending some time around the pool

fl09_2.jpg

and walking on the beach.

fl09_2-3.jpg

Tried to capture some birds :) that were flying there in abundance.

fl09_2-4.jpg

Then we drove around the city which was pretty empty.

fl09_2-6.jpg

The sunsets in Florida are magnificent.

fl09_2-9.jpg

I could sit on the balcony forever and watch the ocean and the sky.

fl09_2-7.jpg

fl09_2-10.jpg

fl09_2-11.jpg

I am still not sure if it’s a joke. Do people really care about the 13th floor?

fl09_2-5.jpg

florida, day one

It took 2 days for us to drive to Fort Lauderdale (with overnight stop in Georgia). We were so happy to see the sunshine and palm trees!

fl09.jpg

As soon as we checked into hotel (on the right), we rushed to the beach to enjoy the sunset.

fl09-7.jpg

My modest little point and shoot could not capture the real beauty of this incredible view.

fl09-4.jpg

I couldn’t get enough of it.

fl09-3.jpg

After 12 years (last beach vacation), the dream of walking on the beach finally came true.

fl09-8.jpg

fl09-2.jpg

fl09-5.jpg

Our hotel was very nice.

discovering the treasure

From the box of old photos and letters that I found at my parents house during my last visit. Ksush, do you remember how you wrote creative letters to your grandparents? These are some of my favorites (more coming later).

That was about the time you were 7. Unfortunately, no pictures of you drawing…
