magnificent insanity

“The Hairdresser’s Husband” is one of my favorite movies of all times. If I could only dance like Jean Rochefort (the husband) and live in the moment… There is a hypnotizing magic in his madness when he moves as if being possessed by the music, and nothing else matters but his love to Mathilde.

The Double Life of Veronique

Krzysztof Kieslowski’s The Double Life of Veronique (1991) is one of the most “delicious” movies I’ve ever seen. I can look forever at the perfect face of Irene Jacob. This movie is one of those creations that I don’t want to critique, just savor the every moment of it. Enjoy ;)

bed and sofa

My favorite silent movie of all times. No words or color needed, the whole story is beautifully told with eyes and gestures… oh so good!

dogville

Sometimes (or is it always?) the ending of the movie makes it all worthwhile. It is 3 hour long and not very dynamic, strange, unusual settings like a theater stage. 5 minutes dialogue at the end brings an amazing spin and turns a very simple story into something you will not forget, because the thought of meaning…will never leave you.

I want my daughter watch this film now, and then 20 years later when life will seem like a little more familiar topic.
Dogville is one of the most thoughts provoking stories since “Что Делать”, that I first was impressed with at the age of 17 and then read it again at 27.

shorts by Jan Svankmajer

Just watched a few short films of Jan Svankmajer.
Crazy, creative, inspiring… Little bit too violent for my taste but seems like all genius artists can not escape the temptation of being “violently creative”. Definitely want to try making some shorts myself, means coming later ;) maybe a year from now, maybe sooner.
